P-C girls take second game from Woodbine Tigers

The Paton-Churdan girls basketball team more than doubled up on the Woodbine Tigers in Woodbine Jan. 30, topping the Tigers 78-32. The Rockets had won their December meeting in Churdan 71-49.

P-C was up 24-13 after one quarter and 40-18 at halftime. The Rockets didn’t let up, scoring another 26 in the third quarter and building their lead to 66-26.

“The girls came out and played with a lot of intensity tonight for four full quarters,” P-C coach Chris Petersen said. “I was very pleased with how aggressive we were with our press, as we were able to get numerous steals and score off turnovers. We did a great job of pushing the ball in transition, and the girls played really well as a unit. It was a great way to bounce back from a tough loss to Glidden-Ralston.”

Carleigh Paup scored 34 points and had 14 steals and four assists. Sydney Koch scored 17 points and led in assists with six. Kasey Lane scored 13 points and led in rebounds with eight and blocks with four.

Jenna Beyers added eight points and six rebounds, Megan Carey had four points and seven rebounds, and Grace Geisler and Reilly Niles had one point each.

The Paton-Churdan girls are 10-7 overall. The loss dropped Woodbine to 4-14.
